Festival this weekend in Leslie seeing the likes of root system and pop up. Should be fun.
Then beautiful days to see the likes of Seth Lakeman and the Dennis Hopper Choppers and not forgetting squeeze which I am very very much looking forward to.

Saw The Courteeners for the second time this year in Norwich last night, when I saw them in April I thought they were superb, last night they were rubbish! They came on after a pounding version of Oasis Rock and Roll Star was played over the speakers but they did not live up to the billing, the lead singer was a bit out of time, very little banter with the crowd, lots of quiet words in the ear of other band members between songs (obviously something was not quite right) and they came off after 45 mins and didn't do an encore! Not great value for money - not like a good Franks set of 18+ songs!

Support band were Ida Maria from Norway, check them out at idamariamusic.com or on Myspace, I thought they were realy good!

That's too bad. At least you got to see Ida Maria ... saw them on Jules a couple of months back and hear them on the radio from time to time. I like what I've heard of them too.

The Wedding Present are always good.

Seeing Ida Maria for a second time in a few weeks. They're the only new band I really wanna see at the moment.

My next gig is Roger Dean - www.singingjohnnycash.co.uk - at the Rhodes Centre in Bishop's Stortford, having seen him earlier this year on the equally grand stage of the Civic Theatre in Oswaldtwistle.

He rules.

Saw Noah & the Whale in Norwich last night - sold out gig, pretty good, I like to folk style, lots of use of violins, trumpets etc couple of up-beat songs which are really good but lots of slower ones the don't really do it for me!

Saw Elbow in Dublin recently and they were brilliant. The trumpet on the opening number (Starlings) was unbelievable.

I saw the sometimes Franks' guest guitarist at the gig as well. I have a fuzzy notion of who he is, can anyone clear this up for me, 'cos it's hard to find details online. If I remember correctly, his name is Darrin Mullins (features on Fight?). I remember hearing that he was the lead guitarist in The Driven and that Ash played with them at some point. Were they from Limerick? As far as I can tell they disbanded and some members formed a new group called Citizen. It's hard to find info on the internet as all you get is Citizen Band (CB) info :) Is Darrin part of that new group? Did they ever get to release their album (saw somewhere that there were record company woes)?
